PINK SATURDAY~~~HAPPY MAY DAY APRIL 30. 2011

Welcome to another Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Since Sunday is May Day I thought I would show my pretty little faux May Day cake that my daughter Jen made for me several years ago. I just love this sweet little cake. I can still remember my first May Day Celebration, I was 6 years old and it was at my church. We actually made a May-Pole much like the one on this cake. I can still close my eyes and smell the wonderful scent of all those beautiful flowers. Our chuch we attend now has started doing a May Procession and everyone is asked to bring a fresh flower to put on Mary's Alter. I look forward to it every year.

When my sister and I were young we used to make paper cones out of doilies and fill them with fresh flowers then hang them on people's door knobs on May Day. What fun we used to have in those days!

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you. I'm looking forwad to visiting all the pinkness this week. I hope you have a wonderful May Day!

I wish you peace! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY APRIL 23, 2011

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Today Beverly asked us to show some Spring or Easter.

What plans do you have for Easter? I'm making my son a turkey dinner. Last year he missed Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas because he was deployed to Afghanistan so this dinner is to celebrate him being home and the holidays he missed.
I wish you a wonderful, happy and Blessed Easter and Passover!

Our apple blossom tree finally bloomed this week so I have a little pink and a little spring!

A few closups.

The scent is wonderful. The only company that I know of that has ever been able to capture the scent of Apple Blossom is Avon. They first brought this scent out in 1941 and the scent in heavenly. I buy it everytime I come across it at a flea market. Love it!

Below is one of my peony bird nests that I started making few years ago.

Next some of my silk ribbon embroidered bunnies. Another creation of mine.

A cute little cross stitched pillow that I made a few years back for my friend Steph of Angelic Accents.

A little sachet that I sent to Steph along with the pillow.

A shelf in my living room all decked out with bunnies.

Some close ups.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was nice to visit with you! I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and Passover!

I wish you peace! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY APRIL 16, 2011

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Today I have a picture of my weeping cherry tree. Yeah it finally bloomed. It was such a long cold and snowy winter that I thought spring would never get here! LOL Please don't mind the weeds, I plan on doing gardening this week since I'm on spring break. Ten days off yeah!!! A close up looking through the tree to the pretty blue sky! My first petunia's of the year. I have always loved these flowers and must have them every year. Love the smell of them too! Not pink but I'm sharing them anyway.

My April calendars are so pretty this month that I thought I would share of pic of them with you!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I'm looking forward to visiting you!

Have a wonderful week! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY APRIL 9, 2011

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants. Today I have some pincushions that I've made this past week. The first one is a cute little bunny that I picked up at a Flea Market. First I gave her a bath, then I made her a little cross stitch heart and gave her some bows and roses. She's just as cute as can be now! Love her! A few close ups.

Next I have a cute little pincushion and needlecase that I made my Sister for her birthday. I found these cute little vintage ballerina's at a Flea Market and since they were too small for my faux fabric cake boxes I thought they would be cute for a pincushion.
My sister should love this! She is a seamstress, she alters vintage lace gowns for young girls to wear to their high school graduation. Maybe next week I'll post some pics of her gowns. Click here for her web site. Then click on vintage dresses. Just beautiful!

Next I have two yellow and pink pincushions that I made from some old quilted fabric pieces that I made years ago.

A few close ups.

The back.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you. Thank you all so much for your kind remarks and prayers for me during my illness. I'm doing good, enjoying life!

Have a wonderful week! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 2011

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants. This week I went to visit a new blog that I have not been to yet as Beverly requested. I enjoyed my visit with Angela at A Mcinnis Artworks. What an adorable blog she has, I really enjoyed my visit there. Fabulous tutorials too! Thank you all so much for your kind wishes and prayers on my illness. Your all so sweet. I'm doing better day by day and enjoying my afternoons off now that I'm working part-time. I'm working on some quilts, I'll try and get some pics for next week since they have pink in them. Above I have a little pillow that I cross stitched and finished into a little pillow for spring decor. It just has a touch of pink but I thought you might like to see it anyway. Also below I have some pretty silk apple blossom sprays to share. While waiting for my real one's to bloom these will do fine. We are still getting snow here so my blossoms are not even close yet. LOL Waiting patiently for them, I love bringing them in the house, their scent is heavenly! Some closeups.

I'm lovin' my new Paula Dean pots and I thought I'd share of pic of them with you. I'm trying to collect softer color utensils for my kitchen so they blend better with my jadeite. Still looking for a soft pink flatware, no luck with that yet.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I'm looking forward to visiting you all to see your pink!

Have a wonderful and blessed week!
