BLUE MONDAY & THE SEASHORE HITS MY FOYER

Hello and welcome to Blue Monday hosted by Sally of Smiling Sally. Today I have another peek into my foyer, this week I have all my pretty little seashore theme collectables and they just happen to be blue.

When I was 8 years old my Father retired from the Air Force, since he and my Mother were from the Phila., Pa area they decided to retire in NJ near the Jersey Shore. Oh how I miss the seashore since moving to WV 18 years ago.
How do you refer to going to the ocean? When I lived in NJ the saying went "Going to the Shore today", since moving to WV the saying goes "Going to the Beach today". I wonder what they call it on the West Coast and Southern Coast? Curious minds!!! LOL

I love this pretty little tray and use it everyday in the summer as hubby and I eat dinner on the porch every evening and sometimes lunch on the weekends.

Most of my seashore items I have picked up on summer vacations to the Outer Banks of NC. Since moving to WV that is our closet beach that we like to go to. Love this prettty little white glittered and beaded starfish.

A few seashore prints, this pretty print is the lighthouse on Orocoke Island in NC. A beautiful little cozy island off Cape Hatteras Island.

Some good Coastal Living magazines to set on the proch with and dream of living on the coast.

Of course Holly Hobbie had to join us today! These sweet little figurines always remind me of my sister and I !

Nights In Rodanthe filmed in the Outer Banks

On my recent vacation to the Outer Banks, NC the Island was all a buzz about the new movie starting Richard Gere and Diane Lane titled "Nights in Rodnathe".
A novel written by Nicholas Sparks was made into a major motion picture.

My daughter and I love to read and Nicholas Sparks is on the top of our list. We read this book a few years ago and were just thrilled to hear that it was made into a movie and of all actors Richard Gere. Wow, and it could not have been filmed in a more romantic place.

Sparks is a sentimental novelist. "Nights in Rodanthe" tells the story of Adrienne and Paul, two people of a certain age who happen to be sharing a Rodanthe bed and breakfast during a late season storm. Both are at a crossroads in their lives. Both are unattached. What could happen from here?

Expect lots of redemption and growth from this film. Parents and children begin to understand and forgive: people gain new insight into their own lives and fortitude" we are reminded of the power and poignancy of romantic love.

"Nights in Rodanthe" an ode to grace to all that makes Hatteras and Ocrocoke islands inviting to people the world over.

Hatteras meets Hollywood in the movie Nights in Rodanthe, opening nationwide on Sept. 26. The flick was filmed on Hatteras and Ocracoke islands in May 2007. Richard Gere and Diane Lane have the starring roles. Not only does the movie put Rodanthe on the map, islanders took center stage as extras, providing security, and in scores of other ways. Gere and Lane walk on the beach in a Warner Bros. photo. The Rondathe beach house named "Serendipity" turned into "The Inn at Rodanthe" for the movie. Islanders lined up in the rain to be extras in the movie.

Talk was that ferry workers report that only Richard Gere of all the cast and crew, was pooped on by seagulls, at least twice. LOL Being splattered by seagull waste is believed to bring good luck. Could this mean "Nights in Rodanthe"is the next "Officer and a Gentleman" or Pretty Woman"?


They even used local musicians in the movie.


For the weeks the movie was being filmed the favorite sport among locals was sightings of Richard Gere and Diane Lane. The stars who played the romantic lead roles and stayed at the Tranquil House Inn in Manteo (pictured below). In addition to the beach house, locations shoots were done at the Hatteras Island Fishing Pier in Rodanthe, on the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry, on Ocracoke Island, in Manns Harbor and in Manteo.

Other novels written by Sparks that were made into movies were, "The Notebook".

Pink Saturday, 9/11 & More Greetings From The Outer Banks

I thought this flag at half mast was a touching tribute to the loss of loved ones on 9/11

I'm still at the beach but packed up and ready to head home tomorrow. We had such a wonderful time! I hate to see our time at the beach end but I'm excited to get home to my pets and see my grandson's and daughter!
Not to much pink this week, I found this pretty little cup and saucer at an antique store.

These are really stretching the pink, maybe peachy, but they are my favorite seafood in the whole world. King Crab Legs, yummy!!!!!!! Sorry the pic is blurry!

That's it for pink this week. Here are a few pics of Hannah passing through.

The bay went empty as she was passing through. We were told by the locals that this happened, still surprised me. Totally empty. The high spots were sand dunes.

In this pic you can see a man had walked out the check his crab traps.

A little closer, those sticks in the background are marking clam beds.

It filled back up several hours later and did not flood, we were lucky. If the water rushs back in fast we were told the area would have flooded for a few days.

The ocean was really rough, these were taken just after Hannah passed through.

Pink Saturday & Hello From Cape Hatteras

We are still enjoying our time at Cape Hatteras Island. Look how pretty the sunset was last evening. I posted a few pics in a previous post if you would like to look.

Now today, another story, Hannah is headed in and the sky is dark. The realtor stopped by and said their has not been an evacuation notice so we can stay and should be just fine. They had a service man stop by to secure the kayaks, hot tub and a few things with the pool. The neighbor who lives here year round stopped over to say that she will check up on us after work. She said that if the water runs out of the bay it will rush back in and flood. So if we see water run out take our truck up the road to higher land to keep it from flooding. That was so nice of her to advise us, we would not have known what it meant. She also said if we flood not to walk in the water because snakes could be in it. Very sweet of her again, we would not have known that either.

Now on to some pinkness. Look how sweet this tote is, I got it at a little gift store by the ferry the first day we got here.

This little tote only has a little pink but I thought it was so cute and just had to share it with you!

Greetings From the Beach

Hello and greetings from the beach! We are having a wonderful time. The weather has been great. A little worried about all these tropical storms that are coming up. Hopefully they just fade away not to bother a soul.

I had to share this with you. They built a new church since we were here last year. Look at how beautiful the alter is at "Our Lady of the Seas". The windows behind the alter have a view to the bay. I thought this was so tranquil. The outside of Our Lady of the Seas.

The ocean is so pretty! A little more rough than usual, probably because of the tropical storms.

A view of the pool from the upstairs deck. The pool has been beautiful, the day we got here and unpacked the car we were so hot that we jumped in here for about 2 hours. Alot of houses here have a reversed living plan so your main living rooms are on the top floor for the better view. I have to say we are getting our exercise.
