PINK SATURDAY, LEAVING ON A JET PLANE & WINNING GIVEAWAYS

Hello and welcome to another pink saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound, if you go to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants.

I want to take a few minutes to thank you all for your prayers and well wishes to my son on his deployment. It means so much to me to know that so many people are praying for him. Bless you all from the bottom of my heart!!!

Above was the plane that carried my son off. I was so happy to see "U.S. AIR FORCE" on the side of the plane, my father was a lifer in the Air Force so it gave me comfort to see that. Made me feel like my father was right there with him.

I have a few pictures here of his deployment events.
Below is my son Bob at his unit before the parade.

The troops marched into the town of Point Pleasant, WV. It was a beautiful event. I walked the whole route into town. It was a beautiful day and the flag raising was beautiful. The town will leave the flag up until they return then the unit will take the flag down and put a new one up.

The town and homes were all decorated to show love and support to the troops.
At the airport before their departure they had a military band playing. It was just beautiful and so many orginazations were they in support of the troops. Handing out breakfast, water, juice, donuts and a boxed lunch for the troops to take on the plane. They also handed out lunches for the families to eat on the way home. Roses for all that wanted them. Toys for the children.

Boarding the plane. It was pouring down rain but we stayed on the airstrip until his plane was up in the sky. I love airplanes, they always remind me of my Dad and his love of them.

A rose that was handed out.
That's it on my son for this week, I will post some more pics in my future posts.
During the holidays I won two giveaways. This one was for a years sub. to Old House Journal. I'm really enjoying this magazine since I love architecture so much. Thank you so much Bertie!

Next I won this wonderful book called "KID'S SACRED PLACES" from Kelee of The Katillac Shack. It's a beautiful book on decorating children's room. I will enjoy reading this one for sure. Thank you so much Kelee.
Now finally on to some pinkness for this week. I usually only have time to post once a week so I get alot in on one post. LOL
My pink for today is this cute little potpourie bunny that I bought at a craft store a few weeks ago. I have wanted one for years but they have been very pricey in the mail order catalogs, I was thrilled to finally see them in craft chain stores at an affordable price.

I did some embroidery while riding in the car to my son's departure events. I made this cute little sachet pincushion for my friend.

A close up.

Well you just never know what your gonna find on this farm. Look at this silly stray cat. He will not come in the house, very scared of people still. I guess he was cold and found a warm spot on the garage stove pipe. LOL

Look how silly! He does come on the porches to eat but we can't pet him.

Last but not least were still feeding our deer. They're looking good.
Were back in the snow again this week in WV. Today was #17 for snow days off from school.
Another foot came down today and it's not supposed to stop until Saturday and noon.

Well that's it for today, thank you so much for stopping by. It was so nice to visit with you. I'll be back next week with some pinkness and you just never know what else I'll have to share with you. LOL
Blessings to you! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY & BITTERSWEET GOODBYE'S

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the participants.

This week I'm living in sort of a fog. Our son deploys to Afgahistan on Monday and we started with all the events leading up to this on Friday.
I'm making this post short and sweet and asking you to keep our son Robert in your prayers.
So many of you have already expressed your thanks and gratitude for his serving the country and I thank you all for that.
We have never been more proud of him than we are right now!
We love you Bob and will pray without ceasing for your safe return!

Some signs I made to take to the parade and other events.

A cake from his going away party.

I bought this figurine two summer's ago when my husband and I vacationed in Gettysburg, Pa. It's supposed to be a Son saying goodbye to his Mother. It really touched my heart so I had to come home with it.

Of course I had to adapt my silk ribbon embroidery into a pin to wear on my coat.

I will end this post with a touch of pinkness, here is a very old hand painted tea-cozy that I just love. It's showing it's wear and tear but I'll keep it around for a few more years.

Thank you so much for stopping by it was so nice to visit with you. Please keep our son in your prayers, I'm going to do my best to stay up and cheerful. I have faith that God will protect our son and bring him safely back to us!
Blessings to you! Shirl
