PINK SATURDAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound! If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the other participants.
Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event!

I'm getting my post up late this week, I mentioned last week that I had a awful cold, well it went into strep throat so I'm feeling awful. Both ear's are hurting so I'm a real mess. I tried last night to do this post but I was just to sick. So glad I can't give you germs through the puter!!!LOL

Anyway as Beverly requested I'm showing some pics of spring and Easter on my post today.
Above is that cute thrift store find cake stand that I have been changing ribbons with the seasons.
For Easter I put my Martha Stewart glittered eggs. I love the shades of her glitters. My daughter Jen painted that pretty little Easter Sign behind it. Bunny topiary is from my sweet friend Steph of Angelic Accents.

I'm still decorating my Easter tree so here's a few closeups so far.

I love this little cross stitch that I did several years ago.

Daffs are blooming in WV. YEAH!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you! Looks like it's going to be a nice day here, I hope to get out and set on the porch with a quilt and a cup of tea and look at some new magazines. Can't do much more than that with the way I'm feeling.
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings to ya! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY & SPRING IS IN THE AIR!

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you go to viist her you can get a list of all the other participants. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event.

Today I'm so happy to tell you that spring has finally hit West Virginia. I'm really loving it. Hopefully it is here to stay. If we don't get a late frost then just maybe I'll have some wisteria blooms this year.

Thank you all so much for your sweet comments on my post last week. Your kind words mean so much to me.

I had the most wonderful time at my quilt retreat last weekend. It was so nice to get away, relax, stitch with friends and we had some really fabulous meals (and I did not have to cook LOL).

I came home and ended up getting a cold so I did not get on the computer much at all this week.

I'm so sorry I did not get to visit any blogs but I'll be sure to visit you all this week and I'll take a peak at your lasts weeks post too.

Today I have to share with you the projects I did at the retreat. The pic below is the little sample project from my emboridery class.

I still have to quilt the oval's around the outside of it, then I have a vintage oval frame to put it in. I'll be sure to post another pic when it's done.

After the small project I started this larger one. The blue lines here have to be stitiched on yet. This will be a little mini quilt. I finally have the boullion rose stitch down. It was really hard to get it just right.

The pic below is what it will look like finished but of couse I'm doing mine in pinks and pastel colors.

Next I have two patterns that I purchased to work on after this one is complete.

I was thrilled fo finally meet the artist/designer,Martha Offut, of these patterns. She is the most beautiful and interesting person. She has taught classes all over the world. She loved that I did redwork embroidery and she is going to send me a vintage redwork pattern. Can't wait to get that!

Here's a close up of the pattern above.

I love how she adds the quilting with her embroidery.

For my mini workshop on Friday afternoon I took this class where we made a little handbag from a placemat. I used a country look placemat for mine. The handle was made from oxygen tubing with ribbon run through it. I embellished it with a vintage petite point earing and some ribbon. It was fun and took no time at all to make.

I love how the side has the red plaids. I wear alot of plaids in the winter. Love that look!

Spring is starting to show it's face around the farm. Look how pretty my crocus's are! You can see the lemon balm peeking through the ground below it.

Spring has also brought a new critter to the farm. This little beaver has decided to take up residency in the stream out front of our house. Like all critters we welcome him or her!

No problem if he damns up the water, we use this water source to water the veggie garden when we have a dry summer.

Well that is it for my post this week! Thank you so much for stopping by and it was so nice to visit with you.

Blessings to ya! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY & A HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event.

This weekend I'm off to a quilt retreat. A much needed little getaway for "me". I promised myself that I was not going to go to any more retreats or take anymore classes until I finished up past projects. But I broke my promise, I really need a weekend of sewing and no cooking or cleaning.
The classes offered I could not resisit. I will be making a handbag from a placemat at my mini workshop and then I will be making a small Brazilian Embroidery quilt for my weekend class.

The pic above is a project from a previous retreat that of course is still not finished. It's called Brazilian Embroidery. The pic below is the colors that came in the kit but of couse I did mine in pink. By the end of the class alot of the girls liked my pinks and bought the pink pearl cotton before leaving the class.

The next project that I did at that same retreat, is still unfinished LOL, It's going to be a small quilt and it's called Split Heart Applique . Here's just a few of my blocks. All pink of course!
Below is a pic of what the quilt will look like done but of course I did mine in pink. The girls in this class were so cute, they said they will never look at pink again without thinking of me. I was known as the "pink girl" before the weekend was over.

Anyway since I won't be here for Pink Saturday I will be visiting your blogs during the week. I'm so looking forward to this little time for sewing and relaxing with friends. Next week I'll be getting into some Easter decorating and crafting.
Next I have to show you the rest of my St. Patricks decor. Some touches of pink here and there.

I'll just let you browse on through a little tour of my foyer. Please feel free to click on the pic and get a good closeup.

Thank you so much for stopping by! It was so nice to visit with you! Have a wonderful weekend and blessed St. Patricks Day!
Blessings to ya, Shirl

PINK SATURDAY & A LITTLE ST. PATRICKS DAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you stop by to see her you can get a list of all the other participants.

Today for my pinkness I have this cute little vintage figurine that I purchased from my friend Diane of Saturday Finds. I treat myself to one of her adorable creations now and then. Her blog and Etsy shop are a real treat!

Next I have a look at St. Patricks day in my cottage. I just decorate a little for this holiday.

A cute little pillow that I purchased on ebay.

This little cake stand was a thrift store find. I change the ribbons for the holidays.

Some faux cookie ornaments that I made last year.

Look how pretty this little embroiderd linen is, just perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

A few pics of the snow we've had here last week.
My poor solar lights along the brick path have not worked in weeks due to no sun.

A view from our house to the barn.

Chairs just outside my back door.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you.
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings to ya! Shirl
