PINK SATURDAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you visit her you can get a list of all the other participants. Oh what pinkness you will find there!

As you can see from the pic above we had more snow in WV this week. It was a cold and windy snow and coverd the table on my porch. My porch does not usually take the elements like this. I can put quilts and needlework out there and it's not usually affected.

Now on to some pinkness. You might remember my Fenton vintage shoe that I made into a pincushion. I sell them HERE in my ETSY SHOP. I was using one of these at my quilt guild and some friends and asked me if I could make some of their vintage treasures into pincushions. Of course I said yes, and I'd thought you'd like to see the finished results.

The one below is mine, I started making them 2 years ago and make them in any color and type shoe I can find.

Below is one that I made for my friend. She had this pretty swan from her husband's Aunt that she wanted to have made and keep for her Granddaughter.
I made the little pins using Swarovski crystals.

The next two are not pink but I thought you like to see them. Look how cute. I wanted to make her some pins using Mary Engelbreit beads but never got to a store that sold them. When I do I will make her some. These are made in vintage 40's plastics.

Below is a pretty special order tag that I had an order to make. Still have 8 more to make on this order.

Look how cute this little fella is. He's not mine, but he thinks he lives here. Has made himself quite at home! He found his way in through the dog door. Tomorrow my husband is taking the dog door out and putting in a new one that locks and only the dog can open it with her magnetic tag on her collar. We had a raccoon come in this winter and that's a little too much for me. She was a very nice raccoon and made herself at home too. We trapped her and her babies and relocated her further out into the country.
This cat actually belongs to my son who lives about 1/2 mile back into my farm. He seems to like Grandma's house!

That's all my pinkness for today. Thank you so much for stopping by! It was so nice to visit with you! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I'll be crafting and decorating this weekend. Were supposed to get more snow and it's a cold 6 degrees right now so it will be a good time to stay home craft and make a big pot of soup!
Blessings to ya! Shirl

PINK SATURDAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound! Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event.
Today is the first I've had my computer back home since last Tuesday. It was very sick, poor thing. All better now and thank goodness, I can't believe how lost I felt without it! LOL

Anyway on to some PINK! Above is a picture of my Valentine tea-towels. I was ironing them earlier this week and thought how pretty they looked so I thought "Why not share them with my Pink blogging friends?"

Some more pretty Valentine tea towels.

If you have visited my blog before you know that my husband and I have been feeding the deer on our farm. This past summer was not a good growing season for apples and nuts in this part of WV and our deer and wildlife are starving. Not these deer as you can see they have a nice little belly on them.
Here's a few closups, we can now get within a few feet of them.

What a beautiful creature God has blessed us with! That pipe thing behind her is a pipe from a natural gas well. Lots of them in WV and most of the time if they drilled on your property you get free gas to your home. A true blessing, makes that pipe not so ugly!!!!! LOL

Next is a picture of another Antique Mall find that I purchased with one my Christmas gift cards. You might have to enlarge the picture (just click on it) to see the detail. It's a very light pic and worth taking a closer look at. I collect vintage baby things and could not resist this one. I love satin and this blue is in very good condition.

It even has a sweet little pillow.
A few close ups!

I love blue-birds, I'm gonna scan this pretty bird, make a pattern and embroider it with some pink roses. Wouldn't that be pretty?

I collect feedsacks and could not resist this pretty one. I'm not sure what I'm going to make out of this cut of fabric yet but I'll be sure to share with you when I do.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you. I love sharing my ideas for sewing, crafting, collecting and decorating.
Have a wonderful week, I hope to visit lots of blogs since I missed so many last week. Don't give up on me if I don't visit on Saturday, I visit PS posts all week long.
Blessings, Shirl

It finally stopped snowing here in WV this week, it has been snowing on and off since Dec. 17 th. It was nice to get back to work after about 3 weeks off. I think our students were actually glad to be back at school also! They finally had their Christmas party on Jan 11th.

Today I had alot more pink & fun things going on around the cottage to show you but my ISP is not being cooperative so I'll just show you some of my Valentine decorating that I started this week.
I'm still working on a some new creations for Valentine's Day and I'll have more to share with you later.

A few close ups.

PINK SATURDAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event.

Today for my pink I'd like to show you this pretty oil lamp that bought last week. I had gotten some gift cards for Christmas so I headed out to my favorite antique mall to use them.

Next is a pretty cross stitch sampler that I found in the same antique store. I love this peaceful little scene. The silhouttes hanging above the fireplace are so cute. I love the pink tile around the fireplace and since I have a fireplace in my sewing room that I am redoing I'm gonna have to shop for some pink ceramic tile and have my husband make mine look just like this picture. He'll be so happy!!!! LOL

The frame is a little dark for me, I think I'm gonna paint it white and then put a pink wash over it.

Look how cute, I told you before that we have been feeding deer coming off the hill on the front side of our house. Look at this little guy looking through the picket fence at me. They know my husband feeds them when he gets home from work at 3:30 and they start coming up to the house around 3 and work their way over to the garage door and wait for it to open.

Here he is peeking around the porch post. I named him Spike, my new buddy.

"Yeah, the man finally brought our corn out" I love that little one second from the right. She is so cute. Look at her little prance.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you! Have a wonderful week!

"Amour" Valentine Day Swap

Hello friends,
I am thrilled to tell you all that Cathy from Treasured Heirlooms has invited me to join her "Amour"Valentine Swap. Of course I accepted and I'm excited to get creating for my partner.
I have admired Cathy's beautiful home and art work for years now. She has been in so many decorating magazines. I fell in love with her little pink garden house the first time I saw it.
Be sure to stop back, we will be posting our swap exchange on Valentine's Day.
Thank you so much Cathy for hosting this fun event!
We have been getting so much snow here in WV, I have not had school since Dec. 18th. My students have not have their Christmas party yet. I'm sure they are loving their days off but enough is enough! Another snow storm headed in tomorrow so I doubt we will have school for the rest of the week.
I'm enjoying my time off of course, I am one to keep busy. I have so many hobbies and love to fuss around the house and decorate, moving things from here to there. Today when hubby came home from work I had him hanging shelves that I decided to move. I told him to get his woodworking tools out, I'll be ready for him to put up some oak trim around windows and doorways before to long. He was thrilled!!!! LOL Not really!
Have a great week, I'll be back on Pink Saturday!
Blessings to ya! Shirl

BLUE MONDAY

Hello and welcome to Blue Monday hosted by Sally of Smiling Sally. Thank you Sally for hosting this fun event.
Today for my blue I'd like to show you my little hall in the older part of our home. We just put a laminte floor down and I decorated in blue. I'd like to put up beadboard one day but for now I just painted a light blue.
I'm still looking for a nice big vintage scrolly shelf to hang on this wall above the table and a little antique dresser for under it. For now this will do.

There are two doors off off this hallway. The light blue paint really brightened it up. I did have it painted in a dark green before. I like this alot better.

Some closups.
This little smokers stand was my father's. He smoked a pipe and had wanted one of these for years. I can still see him putting all his pipe stuff in there. He just loved this thing. I painted it white and used it in my sewing room for years.

This lamp was a thrift store find for a quarter. We rewired it and put a lampshade on.

A closeup of the border. I saw this in Romantic Country magazine and had to track it down.
It's back to work for me today. I've enjoyed being home on Christmas break. We had snow before Christmas so our break started a few days early. We still have to have our Christmas party at school. The kids had already brought thier gifts in for their gift swap so their be excited for sure! I had to bake on Sunday for them the first batch of cookies I made for them got eaten by my grandsons. LOL If you scroll down to my previous post you can read all about my big project that I've started for the new year.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you. Have a wonderful week!

PINK SATURDAY & HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event!

Happy New Year to all my friends out there in blogland! I wish you blessings for this new year! It's been so nice to get to know you all and share all our decorating and fun ideas to make our homes and lives sweeter!

Today Beverly wanted us to write about a project that we have planned for the new year. I have a very big project that I have started this past week while on Christmas break. As many of you know I live in a big old pre-civil war farmhouse. When we became empty nesters we moved our bedroom downstairs in a back room, well I have decided that I missed having a bath in my bedroom, the big walk in closet to add to that I've also read that if your bedroom is on the second floor you will be healthier and live longer. So I've decided to switch my bedroom and sewing room around. A huge job because both rooms need painting, papering and wainscoting. Not to mention all the stuff one can collect in a sewing room. Well the job is well underway and I'll share the final results with you as soon as it's done. I am doing a major destash in my sewing room and I'm feeling really good about it. Sixteen boxes went to Goodwill this past week!

Today I thought I'd share some last of my Christmas with my foyer all done in pink.

Below is a pretty cross stitch that my daughter Jen did for me years ago, this year I made it into a pretty pillow using scraps of fabric.

I wanted some pink roses for my swags in my foyer and was not able to find any in the pale pink that I like so I made them from tissue paper.

I also wanted to share with you these pretty sea shells that my daughter Jen painted for me for Christmas. They will be perfect with the decor in my bedroom when I finish the big move!

OK back to my pink foyer, here's my white tree all done up in pink.

Please ignore the staircase we are in the process of doing it over in oak.

Some closeups.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it was nice to visit with you and have a wonderful week and a Happy New Year!
