PINK SATURDAY & BITTERSWEET GOODBYE'S

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. If you go to visit her you can get a list of all the participants.

This week I'm living in sort of a fog. Our son deploys to Afgahistan on Monday and we started with all the events leading up to this on Friday.
I'm making this post short and sweet and asking you to keep our son Robert in your prayers.
So many of you have already expressed your thanks and gratitude for his serving the country and I thank you all for that.
We have never been more proud of him than we are right now!
We love you Bob and will pray without ceasing for your safe return!

Some signs I made to take to the parade and other events.

A cake from his going away party.

I bought this figurine two summer's ago when my husband and I vacationed in Gettysburg, Pa. It's supposed to be a Son saying goodbye to his Mother. It really touched my heart so I had to come home with it.

Of course I had to adapt my silk ribbon embroidery into a pin to wear on my coat.

I will end this post with a touch of pinkness, here is a very old hand painted tea-cozy that I just love. It's showing it's wear and tear but I'll keep it around for a few more years.

Thank you so much for stopping by it was so nice to visit with you. Please keep our son in your prayers, I'm going to do my best to stay up and cheerful. I have faith that God will protect our son and bring him safely back to us!
Blessings to you! Shirl

Oh Shirl Sweetie...
I will be praying for not only Bobby but for you my sweet friend. I remember the day my son went into the military, it is a very hard thing for a Moma. The happiest day of my life, was when he got out almost 5 years later. They may be grown up, but we still hold those darn apron strings close to our hearts.

I will stay in touch with you, please keep me posted on Bobby as he learns to live this new life. Let him know that so many Americans are so proud of him, and will be holding him up in prayer until these prayers bring him back safely to American ground. God Bless you and your family at this time.

Country hugs sweetie and so much love...Sherry

My dearest Shirl! How very sad I am to read that your beloved son is going back into foreign lands. I will purrrray for him to stay under the wings of our Lord.
Oh I hope your heart can be comforted knowing that...
If I could ask you to please pray for a young army soldier who is fighting for his life in NC hospital right now. He spent 2 tours in Afghanistan and is ready to get out of the service now. On his way to visit a realtive his car was forced off the road by an inattentive teenage. Cale and his family go to our church and I am asking for your prayers and all of those you could garner for us. The Lord hears all of our petitions...we are faithful servants and trust in his will. Cale has a blog where one can read updates as his family posts...a prayer or Bible passage of hope would be such a blessing.
We are a retired Army family and all of our troops are precious to us. You do not have to post this in your comments...I just wanted you to read it dear Shirl now that I know I need to keep Robert in my prayers....
All our love....the cozy cottage

I will certainly say a prayer for his safe return!

That figurine of the mother and son that you obtained in Gettysburg is quite touching.

In spite of your son having to leave, I hope that you have a very lovely Pink Saturday...

You and your son will be in my prayers! I will place his name in our Book of Intentions that gets placed on the altar at Sunday mass so that he will have a safe return home. Those intentions will then be offered up at mass. I will do this weekly.
Hugs to you,
Debbie-Dabble

Oh Shirl, you've been on my mind this week. I'll continue to pray for your brave son. Tell him I said thank you from the bottom of my heart for his unselfish service to our country. It's because of people like him that the rest of us can lay down our heads and sleep in peace. May God go with him. Hugs, Terri

Lovely pinks! Thank you and your son. We could not live in this wonderful country without the Men, women and their families that sacrifice for us daily! It is an honor to have a name and a face to be thankful for and to pray for as you are all in my daily prayers.
Happy Pink Saturday!
Hugs, Lisa
