PINK SATURDAY & MILITARY APPRECIATION WEEK NOV. 6, 2010

My Grandson Joey who is serving in the US Navy. We love you Joey and we are so proud of you. Thank you so much for serving our country!

My Son Bob who is serving a tour in Afghanistan. We love you Bob, miss you, be safe! We are so proud of you, thank you for serving our country!

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event.

This week is Military Appreciation Week~~~~~~quoted~~~~~~"A U.S. Member is somewhere in the world tonight missing their family while you are safe at home. In the minute it takes to read this military members all over the world are not only saving lives but, they are sacrificing their own life for your freedom." Thank a military member to show them your appreciation !!!!!
I would like to take this time to thank all of you who have expressed your thoughts and prayers for my Son and Grandson who are serving in the military!
I appreciate your comments and prayers soooo much! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you also to all of your family and friends that are serving in the military. We have a long line of military members in my husbands family and mine. I have so much respect for the people that have and are now serving our country.
I found this adorable little plate at a Flea Market for $4.00, could not resist it. Not only the cute cottage with a yellow ribbon like I have displayed myself since my son left for Afghanistan last Feburary but also for the cute little pink rose covered walkway.

My poor yellow ribbon is torn and tatterted, LOL, but not to much longer to go. Bob will be home in Feburary. We are so proud of him and also proud of our Grandson Joey who is serving in the US Navy going to dental school.
Since our road is private and not a public road we can get away with putting the bow on it.

Made a stop at the grocery store on the way home from work on Thursday and found these pretty Stargazer Lily's on the clearence table because they had a few bumps and bruses. Still lots of blooms to open and the scent I just can't resist bruses or not. LOL

Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

Look at these cute little lamps I picked up at a flea market this week, The milk glass were $2 each and the crystal was $4. I love milk glass and plan on using some in my newly decorated sewing room. These will be just perfect. I plan on putting new crystals on the one lamp then make pretty lampshades for all three.

My reads for the weekend. I've always wanted an Yorkshire Terrier and plan on getting one when I retire. I picked up this book thinking it would be a good time to start doing a little reading on the breed.

A beautiful new book from my book club. This book is just fabulous!!!

Well that's it for another Pink Saturday, I only post once a week so I tend to get alot in on one post, hope you don't mind. It was so nice to visit with you!
Blessings, Shirl

Oh Shirl, you gave us all so much to ponder and appreciate today that I don't know where to begin. First and foremost, I know your heart must be bursting with worry AND pride that your son and grandson are serving this great country of ours. It is with pride and honor that my husband gave his country 30 years, as his father and brother, as well as my father. God Bless your family members and all who are sacraficing at home as well as away. I love the yellow ribbon. Our streets should be lined with yellow ribbons for our troups. How pretty that would be and a wonderful reminder too. Have a Happy Pink Saturday Shirl, Char

Dear Shirl, you know I ALWAYS pray specifically for Bobby and Joey and so appreciate the sacrifices they and all others make for us all. Please let them know that, too!

Love your Thanksgiving blog header. Yep, less than 3 wks. away. Makes me just want to skip and put out the Christmas decor!

You know how much I love those lamps! Great prices for them, too. I know they will be beautiful with all your special touches on them. I left a message for you in the chats.

Love you,
Stephanie

Hi Shirl,
God Bless your guys and all the men and women who serve!
Love the milk glass lamps!
I found the magazine at the grocvery store..not many copies on hand. It's full of great photos. Your new book looks great! I could read books and magazines all day long if I had the time.
It's good to read up about the dog you want to have. When we got our first Jack Russell...we waited a YEAR before we got him!
Have a lovely weekend!
Warmly,
deb :)

I'll keep your son and grandson in my prayers for a safe return. I come from a military family so I know what it's like. I love the plate you found! Stargazers are my favorite flowers and I have many planted in the yard, but some critter, a mole I think, ate a bunch of them as many didn't come up this year. So I'll have to replant. Happy Pink Saturday.
Hugs, LisaKay

Hello Shirl, your son and grandson sure have my prayers as do all the wonderful soldiers who are risking their lives for our protection. Your post says so much for the true defenders of our nation. a lovely tribute. I pray your son comes home in Feb. to stay.
Your flowers are so pretty, I too love flowers. they just make me smile. I have irises blooming here in the mountains like crazy in the fall. Amazing huh? The plate is darling and I couldn't resist it either.

Your post is always a pleasure.

Right on-we need to appreciate them everyday-we're sending out a care package to a soldier who is dating someone from work and was sent home due to stage 3 cancer.

I would have grabbed that plate too. It's so "me"! I am fiercely patriotic, and I want to thank your son and grandson so very much for serving our country. Thank God for people like them, who are so brave, and who put their lives on hold at home, so that we can enjoy the freedom that we take for granted!
Happy Pink Saturday!
