PINK SATURDAY & A VERY PINK CHRISTMAS Dec 4, 2010

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event!

Today I have my foyer all done up for Christmas in Pink. Still have that old staircase that is half finished, on hold for some major repairs on this old house.

Feel free to click on the pic to get a larger view.

Below is my old green chair from Ohio Amish Country that seems to go with just about anything I put with it.

Below is a Betsy Clark candle that I had purchased a pair of for my mother back in 1974, I could not part with them when I cleaned out her belongings. I think of her every year when I pull them out. Today is her birthday, she would be 86 if she were still alive. She passed away in 1984, still miss her so!!!!!

I love this little Christmas village below, can you believe I found this in a dollar store?

Beverly asked us to post a favorite recipe, this is an old recipe from a New England bakery. The gal that gave me the recipe said that her family had to make this many times to get the recipe down to 2 cakes instead of the batch of 10 that her Grandmother's Bakery made it in.
It's the most delicious cake, I'm sure you will love it. It's our family favorite.
Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake
Recipe makes 2 cakes and it freezes well so use one for now and freeze one for later.

Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake
Greese 2 bundt cake pans
Preheat over to 350 degrees
2 cups sugar
2 sticks butter or marg.
4 eggs
4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
16 oz. sour cream
1/4 cup milk
12 oz. bag mini semi sweet choc. chips.
3 tsp. vanilla
TOPPING
1 cup sugar
4 tsp. cinnamon
Mix sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla till creamy
sift dry ing. and add alternatly with sour cream and milk.
Start and end with dry ing.
Stir in Choc chips
Put 1/4 batter in each pan, then sprinkle some topping mix
put rest of batter in pans then top with rest of topping
bake at 350 for 45 to 55 min.
Do not over bake cake should be nice and moist and freezes great.
Enjoy!
Last week I told you that I went to a new shop in town called the Primitive Pumkin and picked up some really cute new country items. I promised you some pics of my new treasures.
I got this cute little black primitve painted box just perfect for potpourrie.

I also got this adorable little penny mat.

Could not resist this cute little wool felt snowman picture.

Fabulous smelling mist for refreshing potpourrie called carmel coffee cake.

Last a cute little fall penny mat that I've not packed away yet. Still enjoying it! LOL

Whew long post and lots of pics, I hope you enjoyed at much as I loved having you! Have a wonderful week and enjoy that cake recipe if you give it a try!
I wish you peace! Shirl

Good morning Shirl :) Your entry way tree is simply so pretty all decked with those lovely pink ornaments ~ such a special candle that holds wonderful and dear memories for you. It's been almost 5 years since my Mother passed, and I still miss her as much today as the day she passed. Holidays have a way of doing that, don't they. Love your green Amish chair...pink and green always go well together :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmest hugs, Brenda

Some how found your blog while googling something else- your guest room came up; decided to stay & look at some of your posts.

I have a lot of pink & rose themed ornaments. With a name like Roselvr- I have a lot of rose stuff in general.

I didn't get to put a lot of ornaments on the tree last year due to my hub being ill; this year I hope to get a lot of my faves out. Some years it's hard to decide what to put on the tree; I have enough ornaments for 4 full sized trees. One year I hope to set one up with just my rose ornaments.

Shirley, I loved all the pictures. Your tree is gorgeous! Love the little pink stockings and the wreath on your door. I like your old Amish chair. I have a couple of old chairs that belonged to my mom and dad. They are old, but not sure really how old they are. Loved your post as always. Your blog is an absolute favorite!!
