PINK SATURDAY & 100 POST GIVEAWAY

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Thank you Beverly for hosting such a fun event.
I'm getting my post up late today due to satellite problems.
Today is my 100th post, I can't believe that I've done that much posting already. Time sure does fly! It has been so much fun sharing my creativity and fun events in my life with you! So to celebrate the occasion and thank you for sharing I'm having a giveaway. My very first post was about the history of this farm, if you have not read it I think you would enjoy!
The pretty pink embroidered heartstrings above are for giveaway and a few things shown below.

I've picked up some pretty things lately at Flea Markets so I'd thought I 'd pass a few on to you. This pretty glass bowl is from Italy, I thought it would be pretty to hold candy, sachets, flowers or just about anything. It's a nice 8x3 in size.

Also in my give-away is the March issue of County Living and the Jan./Feb. issue of Southern Lady (one of my favorite magazines)! Also a pretty tiny 4x5 cottage chic print.
All you have to do to be entered in the drawing is post a comment here on this post. If you put a link to my blog on your blog I will enter your name twice. Be sure to tell me if you do that so I can enter your name again. I will have the drawing on March 10th so that will give two Pink Saturdays and two Blue Mondays for people to enter.
Pictured below are all the items in the give-away.

Next I have to show you some pretty things that I've made this week and will be listing in my Etsy Shop this weekend for sale. These are not in the give away. Sorry!
Please feel free the click on the picture so you can get a good look!
I've always made these pretty Tea Towels using my needlework and thought I would make some using the pretty stash of fabric that I have collected over the years. They look pretty on a towel rack or just in a tablescape with your other pretty collectables.

This pretty one is made from Susan Branch fabric called "Afternoon Tea" with a ruffle of light pink and white doves.
Silk ribbon embroidered heart strings for St. Patricks Day.

I have always loved Victorian, (it still tugs at my heart) in fact my first apartment that my husband and I set up in 1971 was Victorian. We had purchased the furniture that was then called Colonial Dark Pine and I mixed that with all the pretty Victorian accessories that my Mother In Law told me to help myself to from her basement. So there was my version of " Country Victorian". So for my first item in my Victorian Line is this pretty heart garland done on black with bold colors of silk. Also filled with some fresh lavender.

One of my satin strawberries topped with a Swarovski crystal.
Thank you so much for stopping by, it was nice to visit with you. Be sure to post a comment for my give-away!
Bless you, Shirl

BLUE MONDAY

Hello and welcome to Blue Monday hosted by Sally of Smiling Sally. You can go to her blog to get a list of other participants. Thank you Sally for hosting this fun event.

Today I have some blue to show you in one of my favorite plants a Blue Cape Plumbago. It blooms so pretty all summer but is not hardy to our zone so we have to bring it in every fall, a big job but worth it! I love blue flowers. Also in this picture is my pretty blue recipe box that I picked up while vacationing in Ohio Amish Country.

Next I have for you a pretty blue vintage sampler that I purchased on ebay several years ago. I collect samplers and saw this one day while browsing the list of samplers, thought it was so sad to see someones wedding sampler up for sale so I had to bid on it. I could tell that it was in need of a good cleaning and reframing. I bid but did not win it, I was so upset. A week later I get an email from the seller saying that the person that won it was not happy with it's condition and sent it back. She then offered it to me and I jumped at it knowing that a good bath and some ironing would bring it right back to it's orginal beauty and it did. I used the same frame but whitewashed it. I love it and was so glad I got the chance to revive it!
Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you. My next post will be my 100th post so I will be having a give-away of one of my silk ribbon embroidered treasures so be sure to stop back.
Bless you, Shirl

PINK SATURDAY & BUTTERCREAM FROSTING

Hello and Welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. You can visit her for a list of all the other participants. Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event!
Today I have some pinkness that my daughter Jen of Jen's Petal Palace made me for Valentine's Day. If you click on the picture you can get a larger view.
The picture above shows all my gifts and even a pretty pink gift bag that was full of pink faux pasteries!

Some close ups. Above is a pretty cake made using a box as a base! So pretty!

Some pretty pink and white cupcakes.

One of Jen's pretty pink sugar cookies on a lolli stick. How cute!

A cute little nut cup filled with candy.
Jen also painted this pretty little frame with hand painted roses. It's made like a locket and you can put a picture inside. So cute! Thank you Jen for all this pretty pinkness!

I made Jen this pretty little Tea Towel. I saw this print and thought of her right away. I also had another gift for her that I was making earlier in the week and lost it. Can you imagine loosing something in your own house. Have you ever done that? Well it was half done, I'm thinking my newest rescue cat Mr. Gray the Stray might have taken off with it. He is the friskiest cat I've ever seen. The crazy cat had a whole pile of valentine ornaments from the valentine tree all piled up one day. He's like a crow with shiny things so I'm thinking he has Jen's other gift hidden some place in this house. Oh well when it turns up Jen will get a late Valentine gift. Sorry Jen!
Last week I had some Valentine cupcakes with buttercream frosting posted and had a few requests for the recipe.
I've been using this frosting recipe for about a year now since I found it on the blog of my dear sweet friend MaryJane of The Bee Hive Cottage. A wonderful light and fluffy frosting. Just the perfect frosting everytime!
With her permission I am printing it here.

ButterCream Frosting

1 cup Nucoa margarine (no other!)*
1 cup Crisco
3 boxes powered sugar (apx. to desired thickness)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon CLEAR vanilla
about 3/4 cup water
Mix together and frost away!**
***Make sure you leave a little in the bowl for yourself!
*I use Parkay Light because I can’t find Nucoa in my area. Real butter did not work for me.
It seemed to be too heavy and did not get light and fluffy!
**I beat mine on high for about 15 min. till light a fluffy.
Well that is it for today's pinkness! Thank you so much for stopping by, it was nice to visit with you. I'll be back on Monday for Blue Monday with Smiling Sally! Have a great weekend and go visit Beverly for some more pinkness!
Bless you, Shirl

BLUE MONDAY

Hello and welcome to Blue Monday hosted by Sally of Smiling Sally. If you go to her blog you can get a list of all the other participants. Thank you Sally for hosting such a fun event!

This morning as I was going through my files looking for some blue I came across these bird nests that I had made last spring. Since we had another cold snowy weekend I am really looking forward to spring, gardening, porch sitting and bird watching! I sold these pretty nests on my Etsy shop last year but I think I just might get my supplies out and make some more. I think some new bird nests would be pretty for my aqua blue bath.

This second bird nest that I have pictured hangs from a long ribbon, it looks pretty hanging from a shelf or along side of your curtains.

Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your Blue Monday visits!

PINK SATURDAY & HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day, I hope you all have a wonderful day planned with your Valentine!

Below is a picture of one of my old chippy, cracked and nicked valentine kids that I just love. I painted them back in the 70's and I just treasure them, under glass of course!

Today is also Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Please stop by to see her and get a list of all the other participants.

My pink that I have to show you this week is from a Valentine Swap that I was in, the picture above is what I gave to my swap partner Connie of Living Beautifully.
Some close-ups below.

I made Connie a sweet little silk embroidered garland of hearts.

A pretty little valentine tag.

A little valentine heart with millinery and filled with some fresh lavender.

Above is what Connie gifted me with.
Some close-ups.

A pretty little bird house with a foufou roof, pretty fabric prints, roses, lace and a cute little pink bird.

Also Connie gave me a pretty strawberry sachet scented with a wonderful scent. I have it in one of my guest bedrooms and you can smell the scent as you approach the room. Thank you Connie, I love what you made for me.

Next I thought I would show you some more Valentine's in my home.

Below is a quilted wall hanging that I made this week. I had purchased the emboridery from a person that did it by machine cross stitch. Which I did not know you could even do by machine.

I added the pretty valentine print fabric, some ribbons and some millinery.

Now on to the sweet Valentine treats for my loved ones.

Some yummy white cupcakes with pink buttercream frosting and frosted sugar cookies.

Some little sweet treat gift bags for all!

Last I had to show you another one of my favorite little valentine decorations. It's just a little mailbox with doves and letters. Doves always reminds me of my mother, she loved doves and used to feed them right from her hands. She collected dove figurines and I gave them to my daughter. Jen used them on her wedding day on both sides of her wedding cake. They looked so pretty on the table.

Well that's it for another Pink Saturday. It was so nice to have you stop by! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day and enjoy looking at some other pink posts today!
Bless you, Shirl

ROSE WEDNESDAY

Hello and welcome to Rose Wednesday hosted by Jan & Tom's Rose Haven. If you go to their blog you can get a list of all the other participants.
Today I have some of my Valentine decorations with roses. Please feel free to click on the picture to get a nice large view!

The picture above are some silk roses and above a pretty victorian girl that I made years ago from a doll fabric cutout panel. Bumble Bee Bowser is posing for us! The little girls with kitties/dummy board are from an ebay seller, the link is below.

The picture above is a pretty floral arrangement in a candy box, my daughter Jen made this for me when she was working at a florist several years ago, also pictured is a vintage post card on a dummy board. I buy these on ebay and they have a fantastic collection of items. The seller is Stromboli's Wagon, here's her link on ebay.

Next is an adorable little Valentine goose that I stitched years ago and my daughter Jen painted the roses on the candlestand for me.

A pretty little kitty with a rose in her mouth that I cross stitched and made into a heart hanger with some millinery and a little bling. Below is another cross stitch that was a shop sample when I had my cross stitch shop back in NJ.
Thank you so much for stopping by and thank you to Jan and Tom for hosting such a fun event. If you scroll down to a few previous posts you can see some more Valentine's decorations and a Valentine/Anniversary Tea Party also hosted by Jan and Tom.
