THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ GALA & PINK SATURDAY

Hello and Welcome to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Gala hosted byTwyla and Lindsey of Two Crazy Crafters. If you go to their blog you can get a list of the other participants.
The Wizard of Oz movie holds so many wonderful memories for me. When I was growing up the movie was usually shown once a year on TV during the winter. It was always a special and fun time in our home. We looked forward to it for weeks. My Mother would always make us special snacks, sometimes even buy us some Coca cola. That was a real treat back than, not something you had everyday. All four of us would watch it, my father used to love to listen to Judi Garland sing. My sister and I would cry! LOL I'm such a homebody and always felt "There is no place like home."

I made a banner to celebrate this occasion, the first of this type for me. Don't look to close! LOL Just kidding you can click on the pic and get a good look if you want.

This is also Pink Saturday with Beverly of How Sweet the Sound so this is my pink. If you go to vist Beverly you can get a list of the other paticipants. ~~~~~~Surprise to my daughter Jen, she gets the banner, Enjoy Jen!~~~~~~

Next for this fun gala I have to show you these ornaments that I made back in the 70's not to many years after I was married. I had made the whole set but don't know what happened to the rest over the years.

Next for some pinkness and still thinking of Oz, I found this pretty dresser scarf at an antique mall. She reminded of The Good Witch.

Thank you to Twyla and Lindsey for hosting this fun event. Also a big thank you to Beverly for hosting Pink Saturday every week. I'll be back on Monday for a Blue Monday post. Stop back if you can!

Bless you, Shirl

What a pretty and clever banner. I also liked the little felt and sequin ornaments. We have a set of Wizard of Oz ornaments that must be at least 30 years old that I put up on our Christmas tree every year. Nice tribute to one of my favorite all time books and movies.

Nice to meet you Shirl, so glad you shared some things of your childhood. I remember The Wizard of Oz as a very scary movie when I was a child. But I do remember my mom doing similar things when a Bing Crosby movie would come on.{Oh am I dating myself!]Happy Pink Day when you return. Meg

Happy Pink Saturday, Shirl.

I love the Wizard of Oz, too. I remember it used to be broadcast on television once a year. It was always on a Sunday evening, and I would ask my mother if we could stay home from church.

Your banner is fantastic. And, I sure wish I could have one of your home grown tomatoes.

Hi, Shirl,
I love the Wizard of Oz, too. Your banner is so cute. I know your daughter will love it. I think the scariest part of the movie was those flying monkeys, although the mean witch runs a close second. So many memories from childhood associated with this movie. I love, love, love your dresser scarf. You remember I collect Southern Belles. Hope you have a very good week. Vicki

I remember what a treat the Wizard of Oz was when it came on TV. We got to stay up late. My mom would make us Jiffy Pop and my sister and I would watch it like we were seeing it for the first time each year. Those are great memories.

Your banner is very nice! You did a great job on it and the ornaments are darling.

take care,
DAwn
