WEDDING BLOG PARTY & PINK SATURDAY

Hello and welcome to my Wedding Blog Party hosted by the sweet Stephanie of Angelic Accents. Be sure to stop by and visit her so you can get a list of all the other participants.
Thank you Steph for hosting this fun event. I had so much fun pulling out all my wedding pics and memento's.

I'm also linking up with Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday. I loved pink even back in the 70's. LOL
Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun event! All you pinkie gals out there, you will see pink here and there on this post.

My husband and I have been married for 39 years this past Feb. 6th.
Here we were then.

Here we are now. Much older but very happy. We really enjoy everyday of our life. We share our old farm house with 3 dogs and 4 cats with about 6 more strays that have wondered in. Our adult children have homes right on our farm so we can see them anytime.

Of course if you have visited my blog before you know there will be cross stitch to mark any event going on in my life. I made this sampler many years ago. It's done in cross stitch on a needlepoint canves.
This pretty little tray with vintage image and hand painted roses was made by my friend Judy of Vintage Chic. I fell it love with it at first glance!

Another sampler and although done in the 80's I was fond of pink back then too.

Here I was the night before our wedding, my Dad snapped a pic of me talking on the phone to Ed. Remember the phones with cords on them? My how things have changed since we got married. LOL

Just minuetes before leaving for the church.

This page was out of a scrapbook that my Mom made for me, I saw this picture of this wedding gown in a magazine and walked into the bridal shop, asked if she had it. She did and I never even tried another dress on. I knew this was what I wanted and always dreamed of.

I always loved velvet and always dreamed of my bridesmaids being dressed in velvet and white fur muff's and hats. I could not talk them into all velvet so the Bridal Shop owner showed the girls these dresses with velvet on the top and chiffon on the bottom. My sister was my matron of honor and she wore plum velvet with lavender on the bottom and my bridesmaids wore burgandy velvet with pink on the bottom.

I loved velvet so much that I made alot of my clothes out of it. Below is a black velvet pantsuit that I made for Christmas in 1969.

Then I made brown crushed velvet pants for New Years Eve the following year.

Our wedding cake was so pretty. I've always loved cakes.

My ring bearer Jimmy and flower girl Quartney.

Daisies are a flower that I have always loved so of course I had to have them put in my bouquet.

Next few pics are from a scrapbook that my Mother made for me, they did not have the acid free papers back then so alot of the pages are falling apart and getting rust marks on them. Not sure how to save this book but I'm going to try a few things. Mom wrote right on the pages and I want to keep her handwriting.

My first Christmas, that's me on the right.

My first day of school.
Graduation.
Engagement.

Card and ribbon from roses my Aunt sent for our engagement party.

A few wedding treasures that I love.
My Mom and Dad's wedding picture.

Their wedding licence.

My Aunt and Uncle's wedding picture.

Thank you so much Steph for hosting this fun event. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed putting this little post together. It's been along time since I've looked at all these things.
Thank you to all my blogging friends who stopped by to see this post. I treasure my friendship with you all.
Prayers and hugs, Shirl

You shared a wonderful wedding party post today. My husband and I were married the same year and from the sounds of it we are the same age. Your bridal veil looks so similar to mine. You photos were lovely and I just loved your ring bearer and flower girl. Your cross stitch is beautiful...what a treasure to pass on.
Have a wonderful day.

Hi Shirl,
Oh what a wonderful wedding party post you created. I love your pics and you and your beloved are a beautiful couple. You are a beautiful bride and your dress is amazing. I can see why you did not have to try any others on. It was perfect for you.
Love the scrap book your dear mother made. What a special keepsake. Your first cross stitch is amazing. Gorgeous hand painted oval wedding tray too. Did Jen do this one? Just Lovely!
Love the velvet outfits. I too had a velvet pantsuit in navy blue that I love and wore for Christmas when we first were married. Your sister and bridesmaids look beautiful in the dresses they wore. I had light lavender for our wedding color too.

Just a beautiful and blessed post my friend.
Thank you for sharing.
Have fun visiting the parties.
Love ya, Celestina Marie

Dear Shirl, I have thoroughly enjoyed taking the trip down memory lane with you. You and Ed were/are such a handsome, loving couple! You are so blessed to have that precious scrapbook that your dear mother created for you. It is just priceless. Your wedding gown is stunning with all that frilly lace. I only tried on the one gown, too! Is that your sweet parents' wedding pic hanging on the wall in the pic where you are putting on your lipstick? They were such a happy couple!

Your bridesmaid gowns are among the prettiest I've ever seen for a winter wedding. Love your color choices, too. Beautiful cake. Love the pic of you in your velvet pantsuit, too ~ you've been sewing forever! Beautiful cross-stitch, as always.

I'm so glad you joined in the WEDDING BLOG PARTY! You are such a dear friend ~ I treasure you more than you'll ever know!

Hope you are having a wonderful time having Bob home!

Love you,
Stephanie

Hi Sherry! I always love your pinks! I am impressed with your soap making. I wish they made a magic formula for rosacea. That is the one thing I have and hate about aging! Argh...

I really do love stopping by and hope you will come visit again! Hugs and HPS ! Anne

Shirl, I loved seeing all of your pictures of your wedding and your mom and dad's as well! I adore your dress, too, and the bridesmaids dresses. I can't believe they didn't want to wear all velvet! I love velvet, and one of my favorite weddings I wore velvet and carried a white fur muff with live holly attached to it. I would have gladly worn it for your wedding! :-)

Happy Pink Saturday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Shirl Sweetie...
Happy Pink Saturday. What a beautiful post you have today. I love your wedding pictures and you were so beautiful in that gown of your dreams. I love the velvet on the dressed for the brides maids. Oh how beautiful and the little flower girl dress was divine. Your cake was gorgeous. What memories you made that day.

Congrats on all of your years. We celebrated our 35th. We are a rarity these days. Our courts have made it so easy for people to walk away from their commitments. We said "I do" for life.

I am having a giveaway, please stop by my blog. It is my one year anniversary. Have a beautiful weekend. Country hugs and much love sweetie, Sherry
