BLUE MONDAY

Hello and welcome to Blue Monday hosted by Sally of Smiling Sally. You can go to her blog to get a list of other participants. Thank you Sally for hosting this fun event.

Today I have some blue to show you in one of my favorite plants a Blue Cape Plumbago. It blooms so pretty all summer but is not hardy to our zone so we have to bring it in every fall, a big job but worth it! I love blue flowers. Also in this picture is my pretty blue recipe box that I picked up while vacationing in Ohio Amish Country.

Next I have for you a pretty blue vintage sampler that I purchased on ebay several years ago. I collect samplers and saw this one day while browsing the list of samplers, thought it was so sad to see someones wedding sampler up for sale so I had to bid on it. I could tell that it was in need of a good cleaning and reframing. I bid but did not win it, I was so upset. A week later I get an email from the seller saying that the person that won it was not happy with it's condition and sent it back. She then offered it to me and I jumped at it knowing that a good bath and some ironing would bring it right back to it's orginal beauty and it did. I used the same frame but whitewashed it. I love it and was so glad I got the chance to revive it!
Thank you so much for stopping by, it was so nice to visit with you. My next post will be my 100th post so I will be having a give-away of one of my silk ribbon embroidered treasures so be sure to stop back.
Bless you, Shirl

I totally love this sampler. I have such a soft spot for hand embroidered work! I can't do it but I love it.

We have blue plumbago bushes and hedges growing year round. I love it too. That's a sweet eBay story. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

Such pretty flowers, and I love plumbago. We have some in our yard, but it was majorly killed back this year. So I guess we wait and see if it has a comeback.

That sampler is just darling. Love all of the pretty blue in it.

Thanks for sharing with us...

Happy Blue Monday!

XO,

Sheila :-)

I did a sampler like that when I first got married, 36 years ago. I wish I knew what I did with it. Life on 250 acres must be fantastic.

I agree, that is such a shame about someone's wedding sampler. You did a great job of cleaning it up and giving it a new home where it is loved.
Congrats on your 100th post!

Shirl,

This was a sweet story! I love the sampler. There is so much history behind them that we can only imagine.

I am curious as to how and with what you washed this sampler with. I have one of my own that needs a good cleaning and I am afraid I will ruin it.

xoxo
